Our School
Learn. Grow. Become.
Our invitation to students to embark on a learning adventure that opens the door to a world of knowledge, sparking lifelong curiosity that goes beyond textbooks.
Growing encourages students to challenge themselves, stretch their wings, and find their confidence and character. And becoming is the realisation of potential—where we celebrate our students' transformation, passions realised, and their exciting path ahead.
Welcome message
Dear Parents and Carers,
Welcome to Brighton Primary School, where we’re dedicated to inspiring a love for learning and fostering an environment where students not only learn but also grow into confident individuals. I am delighted to extend a warm welcome to you.
At Brighton Primary School, our mission is encapsulated in our tagline: Learn. Grow. Become. These three pillars serve as the foundation for our approach to education. We are committed to providing a comprehensive and enriching educational experience that goes beyond the classroom, nurturing each student's academic, social, and emotional development.
Our passionate and experienced teachers and support staff are dedicated to creating a positive and inclusive atmosphere where curiosity is celebrated, diversity is embraced, and every student is encouraged to explore their unique talents and maximise their learning. We believe in the power of education to transform lives, and we are here to guide and support your children on their journey of discovery.
We invite you to actively participate in your child's educational experience and become integral partners in their growth. Together, let's create a community where collaboration thrives, and where the potential of each student is unlocked through a holistic approach to learning.

The International Baccalaureate
We believe in education that transforms, inspires, and ignites curiosity in our students. It’s why we choose the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program (IB PYP) as our educational framework. Designed for students aged 3 to 12, the IB PYP focuses on the development of the whole child through a holistic approach to learning. Benefits of the IB PYP include:
Holistic Education: The program emphasises the intellectual, social, emotional, and physical development of students, aiming to nurture well-rounded individuals.
Transdisciplinary Learning: IB PYP promotes an interdisciplinary approach to teaching and learning, breaking down traditional subject boundaries to explore themes and concepts in a more interconnected way.
Inquiry-Based Learning: Students engage in inquiry-based learning, encouraging curiosity, critical thinking, and research skills. They explore real-world issues and develop a deeper understanding of concepts.
Action and Service: The program places importance on taking action as a result of learning. Students are encouraged to apply their knowledge and skills to make a positive impact on their local and global communities.
Learner Profile: The IB PYP incorporates a set of attributes known as the "Learner Profile," which includes qualities such as being inquirers, thinkers, communicators, and open-minded individuals. These attributes aim to develop students who are principled, caring, and reflective.

Learning Enhancement Team
At Brighton Primary School, we pride ourselves on fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students. Our goal is to create a space where every student remains actively engaged, overcomes challenges and achieves academic success. While most students do well with high-quality classroom teaching, some may benefit from extra support or more challenging tasks tailored to their individual learning needs.
Our experienced learning enhancement team and dedicated teachers regularly assess student performance to understand their unique learning requirements. Through this collaborative approach, we're able to offer targeted and timely support aligned with the curriculum being taught in class.
This might involve:
- Revisiting foundational concepts
- Practising essential skills
- Preparing for upcoming lessons
- Deeper exploration of content and concepts
Whether it's in the classroom, small group sessions, or one-on-one, our learning enhancement team is here to ensure each student gets the help they need.
Deaf Facility
We believe in the power of diversity and are committed to ensuring that every student, including those who are Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH), can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Our Deaf Facility is seamlessly integrated into the broader school community, promoting a sense of unity and understanding among all students.
Our Deaf Facility offers a specialised program designed to provide an inclusive education for DHH students. This facility is equipped with state-of-the-art resources and staffed by experienced professionals – including Teachers of the Deaf, learning enhancement teachers and learning support aides.
This team plays a crucial role in providing individualised, small group and whole class support to all students including our DHH students, fostering a supportive learning environment, and promoting the overall wellbeing of our students within the Deaf Facility.
Together with Hearing Australia, Cochlear Implant Clinic and external Speech Pathologists, Audiologists and Psychologists, our team is committed to creating a positive and inclusive space where every child can thrive.

Our History
With a proud legacy spanning 150 years (yes, that’s over a century and a half of history!), Brighton Primary School stands testament to resilience, dedication and community spirit.
How did we get here? After discussions with the Boards of Advice, land was purchased at Wilson and Male Street for 450 pounds. On this site, a unique school was built, featuring gothic arches and a bell tower, crafted by the renowned Terry and Oakden. These gothic arches and the bell tower, still standing proudly, have become iconic symbols of our school.
Jump forward to today: we're home to over 500 students, a team of 60 dedicated staff, and a Brighton community like none other.
